The G810 looks to be a top of the line phone modeled in direct competition with the Nokia N95. There are actually only a handful of differences between the two feature-wise. The new G810 has just a few new features that the N95 didn’t, and it’s smaller! The GSM phone will offer a 2.6″ 262K Color display, GPS navigation, Wireless 802.11b/g connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and speedy 3.6 Mbps HSDPA. The G810 also sports a 1200 mAh battery which is reported to have significantly longer life than that of the N95.

The digital camera on the G810 will feel close to a standalone digital with its 5 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, face recognition, image stabilization, macro mode, and autofocus. The phone will also have 150MB of built-in storage as well as a microSD memory card slot for expansion. Samsung is really pushing the convergence of camera and phone here. Unlike the barely snapshot-worthy camera phones of the past, this device has potential to serve both purposes adequately. While previous Samsung smart phones utilized Windows Mobile, the G810 will run the Symbian 9.2 OS.

Samsung has yet to set an official release date but there should be more info on February 11th at the Mobile World Congress.

There used to be a time when it was hard to find a decent QWERTY Windows Mobile Smartphone device, and now AT&T offers two very good options - the Samsung BlackJack II and Moto Q9 Global. I have been watching both these devices. The thing that is holding me back is the lack of Wi-Fi and the fact that I haven’t been able to decide between the two. For the latter scenario this article on pocketnow.com is very useful.
