Canadian carrier introduced a white version of the same device and is therefore again faster than Verizon which is expected to introduce a white HTC Touch as the Verizon XV6900 as well.

The specs stays the same and the white HTC Touch also runs on the Windows Mobile 6 Professional supporting Bell’s EV-DO high speed mobile network and featuring HTC TouchFLO, a 2 megapixel camera and camcorder, speakerphone and stereo Bluetooth compatibility. However, GPS support.Otherwise, the device is the same Touch that’s proven to be so popular, with it running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional and boasting support for Bell’s EV-DO network. Those willing to sign a three-year contract with Bell can get one right now for a mere $100, or you can drop a full $400 if you want to stay uncommitted.

The news slows down during the holiday season before the big rush of CES and it gives us some time to reflect on the past year. I’ll be posting a year in review for mobile devices shortly, but wanted to first post lists of the most popular and most discussed posts here on the ZDNet Mobile Gadgeteer blog. As you can see, the iPhone was the subject of 4 of the top 10 most discussed posts with HTC devices also capturing 4 of the most popular posts. The other two covered Windows Mobile 6 and Google Calendar syncing. It was interesting to see that one of my older posts from 2006 (HTC TyTN review) was in the top 10 for 2007. I believe that shows how popular this high-powered touch-screen Windows Mobile device was in 2006 and 2007.
MOST POPULAR
- “The iPhone will cost me at least US$2245, how about you?”
- Is the HTC Advantage really the most powerful mobile office?
- Why does the iPhone get so much hype when more capable devices are already available?
- What kind of choices do you have if you don’t want an iPhone?
- 6 iPhone questions I need AT&T and/or Apple to answer
- Microsoft reveals Window Mobile 6 and we have all the details
- TyTN: Smartphone of your dreams?
- Sync your mobile devices to Google Calendar
- Hands-on video and first impressions of the HTC Touch
- First impressions of the AT&T Tilt

As far as the most discussed posts go, the iPhone generated a lot of conversation with 7 of the top 10 posts, including the top 6 most discussed. Spots 7, 8, and 9 were blog posts on HTC Windows Mobile devices. I post quite a bit about S60 devices, but think the lack of availability in the United States of these amazing mobile devices keeps people from experiencing them.

James, Kevin, and I recorded MobileTechRoundup show #119 just before Christmas and talked about the HTC Touch Dual, usage of the HTC Advantage on the go, the WiBrain UMPC that Kevin is evaluating, the Dell Latitude Tablet PC, and the OS 2008 update for the Nokia N800. We had a couple pieces of freeware we talked about as well that you may want to try out. We’ll have one more show before we try to record again at CES in Vegas in January so stay tuned for that final 2007 episode.
If you enjoy listening to the MobileTechRoundup podcast, please vote for us at Podcast Alley. Also, please let me know if you have anything you would like us to cover and discuss on the show and I’ll try to work it into a future podcast.

The Mogul(PPC-6800) rocks a 400-MHz Intel PXA263 processor in its slimmed-down body (4.3 by 2.3 by 0.7 inches, 5.8 ounces); the stubby add-on antenna is gone, and the Mogul actually fits into a pocket. As on the PPC-6700, there is a wealth of buttons around the outside: Quick-access keys for e-mail, Internet Explorer, and the programs menu; pick-up and hang-up keys, soft keys and a cursor rocker stud the front.
On the sides, you’ll find a camera button, voice dialing, “OK,” two network buttons (one for the network manager and a Wi-Fi switch), a power button, a voice dialing button and a BlackBerry-style scroll wheel. There’s a slot for a microSD card (up to 2GB; a 512MB card is included) on the bottom.Afteru you jump see all the pictures and check Sprint Mogul by HTC (PPC-6800) video review

What’s with HTC pushing all these unexpected handsets through the FCC’s testing labs? We’re feeling a bit left out of the loop here.
The latest HTC handset to hit the FCC’s website is the HTC “Neon.” Actually, the FCC label identifies the device as the “NEON100,” and by the looks of the image in the label, we’re going to go ahead and say that the HTC Neon is another HTC Touch variant. Word on the street also points to a possible Japanese launch on NTT DoCoMo’s network - made even more likely by the fact that this little baby just cleared Japan’s cellphone certification process.

On the flip-side, we could see the HTC Neon launch Stateside with its WCDMA Band V, which is otherwise known as the 850Mhz frequency that US 3G networks are so fond of. But, we’ll wait for more info before we declare an imminent launch of an HSDPA-toting HTC Touch in the US.

Although I don’t own a Windows Mobile device, I do admire Vito Technology’s efforts to add some of that “iPhone charm” to smartphones and PDAs running the Microsoft’s mobile OS. Naturally, the mobile software developer primarily targets touchscreen-equipped device (HTC Touch) owners, who may want to improve the overall usability of their respective devices.
Earlier we saw them releasing the iPhone-like virtual keyboard (ZoomBoard) and contact manager (FunContact), and now with their new application called GoodWin, their goal is to change the homescreen. As you can see from the image on the left, they’ve managed to copy iPhone’s look and feel, even “borrowing” the way of unlocking the device. Looks neat and I guess they should now bundle these three apps into an “Make your HTC Touch act like an iPhone” bundle, don’t you think?

The promotional graphic might indicate otherwise, but it looks like O2 will be picking up the heralded HTC Kaiser as the O2 Xda Stellar. We can’t imagine how the advertising drones let the “Stella” typo slip through the cracks, but it’s still nice to see O2 finally getting with the game and offering the “holy grail” of smartphones to its subscribers - whatever its name might be.

We’re hearing that the HTC Kaiser should hit the UK as the O2 Xda Stellar sometime in December - hopefully in time for some last-minute holiday shoppers to get their hands on the WinMo6 smartphone. We just gotta wonder how many HTC Kaiser fans were waiting on O2 to pick up the handset instead of just grabbing an unlocked version straight from HTC.
Anyone out there waiting to grab an O2 Xda Stellar?
