Apple has approved the edition of Gaia GPS by maps of the Haitian earthquake just a few hours back it was submitted to the App Store. It’sitting intended to aid disaster relief for the Haitian earthquake.
The app can be used to download maps and satellite imagery of the earthquake area, including up-t-to-date overlays of disaster sites, hospitals and other relevant waypoints.

Apple exercise volition have you believe that you need an iPhone to have the best smartphone upon the body the market. Now Google is trying to convince you that Android is the way to go and is just going into the market itself with its confess phone: the Nexus One. While Apple touts its else than 100,000 Apps available on its App Store, Google focuses more on the phone’session features, with its Nexus One sporting its latest Android OS (Eclair / 2.1). Bundled in the reinvigorated OS is a whole bunch of new features including quick wallpapers, Facebook integration, voice control over correct about everything in the OS, and a whole lot in addition.
I had some play time with the Nexus One earlier today and have to say that while I wouldn’t call it a game changer, it’s definitely raising the bar for what you can chouse with your mobile phone. Sure, the iPhone offers a set of the similar features, but the Nexus One is on the level and even passing the iPhone this time around. I’ve highlighted a not many of the more notable features below:

The Guardian’s app has been downloaded almost 70,000 times (68,979 to be exact) from the time of it launched in December
It was downloaded 9,000 times in the leading two days.
The way mocoNews figures it out, that could come out to $3.2 million a year. OK, this is before Applesession 30 percent commission comes off, and ignores currency differences…

Nokia filed an officer complaint against Apple with the U.S. International Trade Commission. The former mentioned seven various patents in its complaint pertaining to Apple’s user interfaces, cameras, antennas, and the street it implements rule management. The complaint is timely with Nokia’s loss of U.S. market share. In October the New York Times reported that Nokia’s U.S. market distribute had dropped from 35 percent in March 2002 to 7 percent this fall.
