Apple announced that it is countersuing Nokia for patent infringement. Nokia had filed a wooing against Apple in October of 2009, claiming that Apple infringed upon 10 of its patents that relate to various wireless technologies, such as UMTS and GSM.
Apple’s countersuit announcement follows in its entirety:
Responding to a lawsuit brought facing the company by Nokia, Apple today filed a countersuit claiming that Nokia is infringing 13 Apple patents.
“Other companies must compete with us through inventing their own technologies, not just through stealing ours,” said Bruce Sewell, Apple’s General Counsel and elder vice president.
