Haiti: An app to aid disaster relief
Apple has approved the edition of Gaia GPS by maps of the Haitian earthquake just a few hours back it was submitted to the App Store. It’sitting intended to aid disaster relief for the Haitian earthquake.

The app can be used to download maps and satellite imagery of the earthquake area, including up-t-to-date overlays of disaster sites, hospitals and other relevant waypoints.

Study Suggests There’s a “Texting While Walking” Epidemic
According to the New York Times:

Slightly more than 1,000 pedestrians visited emergency rooms in 2008 because they got distracted and tripped, fell or ran into something while using a cellphone to deliberate or text. That was twice the number from 2007, which had nearly doubled from 2006, according to a study conducted by Ohio State University, what one. says it is the first to estimate such accidents.

In pursuit with this, the Embassy of the United States in Haiti today has called upon those who desire to help the Haiti earthquake victims by donating to the Red Cross. To donate, regular text ‘HAITI’ to 90999 from any mobile phone and a $10 donation will be sent to the Red Cross. The donation will have being added to your phone bill at the end of of the month. You may also help by visiting the Red Cross or Mercy Corps websites.
